Cast Iron Welding Electrode SUMO Model Ni55 Size 3.2 mm Length 350 mm
SUMO Ni55 welding electrode (or equivalent grade ENiFe-CI) is a graphite-coated flux electrode with a Nickel-Iron core designed for welding gray cast iron, ductile cast iron, and joining cast iron to mild steel. The resulting weld bead provides higher strength than Ni98 and low expansion, excellently reducing the risk of cracking in cast iron workpieces.

Feature

Nickel-Iron Core: Contains approximately 55% nickel, providing high weld strength and better crack resistance than pure nickel electrodes.

High Crack Resistance: Low coefficient of thermal expansion reduces stresses during cooling, preventing cracking in the cast iron base metal.

Excellent Machinability: The resulting weld retains good machinability or grindability, even though it is harder than Ni98.

Versatile Bonding: Excellent for joining dissimilar materials, especially cast iron to steel.

Stable Arc: Provides a stable and smooth arc, easy puddle flow, and easily detachable slag.

Application

Suitable for repairing engine blocks, cylinder heads, and water pump housings.

Used to repair heavy machinery parts made of ductile iron or nodular graphite cast iron.

Repairing gear teeth or components requiring high impact resistance.

Recommendation: For cast iron welding, weld with short beads of about 2-3 cm and lightly peen the weld bead while hot with a chipping hammer to relieve stress; preheating is recommended for very thick workpieces.
