SUMO Ni98 Cast Iron Welding Electrode 3.2 mm, Length 350 mm
The SUMO Ni98 welding electrode (AWS A5.15 ENi-CI standard) is a graphite-coated stick electrode with a pure nickel core (98% Nickel), specially designed for repairing gray cast iron. The resulting weld metal is highly ductile with very low stress, providing excellent crack resistance. Most importantly, the weld deposit offers the easiest machinability among all cast iron electrodes using machine tools.

Feature

Pure Nickel Core: With up to 98% nickel content, the weld deposit is soft and highly ductile, helping to absorb cooling stresses effectively.

Maximum Machinability: The resulting weld bead has low hardness, allowing it to be easily turned, drilled, or tapped just like the base metal.

Low Heat Input: Operates with low welding current, helping to reduce the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) on the workpiece and minimizing the formation of hard, brittle white cast iron structures.

Excellent Wetting: Superb molten metal fluidity, easily fusing with the base cast iron even on old, well-used components.

All-Position Welding: Easy to operate in all welding positions, providing a smooth and stable arc.

Application

Suitable for repairing cracks or porosity in cast iron parts requiring precision and surface remachining.

Used for repairing cylinder heads, engine blocks, machine bases, and cast iron gears with broken teeth.

Hardfacing and build-up welding to restore worn metal on gray cast iron components.

Recommendation: Thoroughly clean the surface before welding. If possible, grind a V-groove and weld in short beads, lightly peening with a chipping hammer while the weld is still hot to relieve stresses.
