A versatile cordless hammer drill set for versatile work, the MAKITA HP488D002 was developed to replace popular predecessors (such as the HP457DWE). Powered by an 18V direct-power motor system along with G-Series lithium-ion battery technology (white-base battery), the tool seamlessly combines 3 operational modes in one unit. The body is constructed from high-impact engineering materials. The ergonomically designed soft grip rubber handle helps reduce wrist fatigue and provides steady drilling control. All-metal gearing ensures extended service life. Equipped with a variable speed trigger switch and an electric brake system, offering maximum safety and precision for every task.

3-Mode Multi-Functionality: Features a mode selection ring for 3 modes: wood/metal drilling mode, screwdriving mode, and brick/masonry hammer drilling mode.
2-Speed Mechanical Gearing: 2-speed gear settings; select high-speed gear for light drilling tasks or high-torque gear for heavy fastening work.
16-Position Torque settings: 16 clutch torque adjustment settings to prevent over-driving screws or stripping threads.
13mm Keyless Chuck: 13 mm (1/2") metal/plastic keyless chuck allows for quick, tool-free bit changes by hand.
Electric Brake System: Electronic brake stops blade/drill bit rotation immediately when the trigger is released, increasing jobsite safety.
Forward / Reverse Switch: Forward/reverse push button conveniently positioned for easy switching with the index finger and thumb.
G-Series Battery Compatibility: Specially designed for use with Makita's G-Type battery platform (white battery).
