The Makita D-17382 is made from premium M35 high-speed steel containing 5% cobalt, specially designed to handle hard and tough materials that quickly dull conventional bits due to heat buildup. The cobalt content maintains cutting edge hardness even at extreme drilling temperatures, ensuring efficient drilling in stainless steel and high-tensile steel.

5% Cobalt Content: Enhances high-heat resistance (red hardness), preventing loss of hardness and maintaining sharpness many times longer than standard HSS bits.

135° Split Point: 135-degree split point provides precise centering with no walking on startup and reduces required feed pressure.

Fully Ground Flute: Precision-ground flutes help evacuate metal chips quickly, reducing friction and preventing heat buildup in the hole.
