The 3M™ PELTOR™ Optime™ 98 Model H9P3E is part of the Optime™ 98 family, focusing on the balance between noise reduction performance and wearing comfort. These earmuffs are designed to provide reliable hearing protection in environments with high levels of hazardous noise, especially where average noise levels reach up to 98 dBA (the origin of the "Optime 98" model name).

This H9P3E model is designed to be attached to safety helmets (Cap-Mount / Hard Hat Attached), allowing users to receive both head and hearing protection at the same time. Installation is quick and easy onto most standard hard hat accessory slots. Earcup Pivot Points allow the earcups to tilt and fit the shape of each user's head and ears properly, providing a comfortable fit and an excellent noise-sealing barrier.

The ear cushions of this model are Liquid/Foam-filled Cushions, which are exceptionally soft, helping to reduce pressure on the ears and providing maximum comfort for extended wear. Despite its reliable noise reduction performance, the H9P3E remains lightweight, preventing unnecessary strain on the wearer. The earcups are colored yellow/black, making them easily visible in various environments.

- For noise levels up to 98 dBA: Designed to reduce noise levels in environments with an 8-hour time-weighted average noise level of up to 98 dBA to safe levels for ears.
- Cap-Mount / Hard Hat Attached design: Designed to securely and easily attach to most standard hard hats.
