This is a specialized measuring tool designed to precisely measure the dimensions of an inner groove or concave. Offering a maximum measuring range of 150 millimeters (or 15 centimetres) for calipers, inner groove calipers are commonly used in industries such as machining, manufacturing and engineering where accurate internal groove or groove measurements are required. Calipers have two legs or arms that are specifically designed to fit into narrow or curved grooves. The arm of the caliper may be angled or curved to allow easy insertion into various shaped grooves. The caliper has a main scale and a sliding vernier scale similar to a standard vernier caliper. This enables accurate measurements and high accuracy. The sliding vernier scale is located on the sliding arm and is used in conjunction with the main scale to provide a more precise reading of the measurement.
