Installation manual for kikawa KQ 400 S constant pressure automatic water pump

General Details

Automatic Water Pump kikawa KQ 400 S An all-in-one water pump combining motor, pump, pressure tank, and pressure switch (PRESSURE SWITCH)

equipped with a water flow switch and circuit board specially designed for household use, helping the water pump operate continuously even in low-flow conditions and maintaining constant water pressure.

Installation preparation and piping connection for kikawa kikawa KQ 400 S automatic water pump

- To ensure continuous operation of the water pump, please anchor the pump securely. The installation area should be dry and well-ventilated, with adequate space for future maintenance or repairs. If the pump must be installed outdoors, do not expose it directly to open weather or rain, as this may cause damage to the electrical system.

- The water pump should be installed as close to the water storage tank or water source as possible. Assemble all pipe joints carefully to prevent water leaks or air bubbles, which can reduce the pump's operating efficiency.

- Prevent foreign objects such as PVC residue, glue, debris, sand, etc. from entering the water pump; otherwise, the pump may be damaged and its service life shortened. It is recommended to use a strainer to prevent such foreign objects from damaging the water pump.

- Ensure that all connections are made as shown in the diagram below (or refer to the panel inside the cover). Make sure a ground wire or circuit breaker is installed to prevent short circuits.

Operation of kikawa KQ 400 S automatic water pump

1. Recommendations for maximum operating efficiency of KIKAWA automatic water pump

- Do not allow the water pump to run dry; do not use with hot water exceeding 40ºc

- Do not use with types of water other than tap water

2. Power will be automatically cut off when the temperature becomes abnormally high and will resume operation once the temperature returns to normal.

3. Before turning on the water pump, water must be filled (primed) first as shown in the picture.

Removing the control switch of the KQ series

- Unscrew the control switch (Flow Switch), remove the spring (Return Spring) and the water shutoff mechanism (stopper) in sequence in order to fill water into the suction pipe and the pump casing.

- Unscrew the air vent cap.

- Fill with water until it overflows.

.

4. Check the rotation of the water pump. This can be done by using a screwdriver inserted into the end of the motor shaft as shown in the picture below, then turn the shaft clockwise several turns to check if the pump can rotate freely. If it does not rotate normally, do not assemble it yet; clean the water pump first.

5. Check the electrical voltage, then turn on the water pump switch and open the water faucet you wish to use. Water should flow out after about 2-3 seconds (in some cases it may take up to 1-2 minutes).

6. If water does not flow out of the faucet after 1-2 minutes, turn off the water pump immediately, then repeat Step 3 again to fill the suction pipe and pump casing with water, then turn the switch on.

7. Once water flows out of the desired faucet, close and open that faucet to test the operation of the water pump (the water pump will stop automatically when there is no water delivery).

8. In case the water pump has not been used for a long time, please follow the steps above to test the operation of the water pump to ensure it functions normally.

In case the problem cannot be solved by the steps above, please contact your dealer or an experienced technician.

Adjusting the pressure switch (PRESSURE SWITCH) kikawa KQ 400 S

The pressure switch is designed to be located inside the control box. Normally, the pressure is properly factory-set to meet standard usage. In case the water pump cannot operate normally, the pressure can be adjusted as shown in the picture below.

1. In case the motor does not stop running

This can happen because the pressure setting is too high. Fix by using a flathead screwdriver to turn the screw counterclockwise slowly until the motor stops, then turn it a little more, about 5 degrees, and check whether the motor starts normally.

2. In case the motor does not start

This can happen because the pressure setting is too low. Fix by using a flathead screwdriver to turn the screw clockwise slowly until the motor starts, then turn it a little more, about 5 degrees, and check whether the motor stops normally.

3. After finishing the pressure adjustment, tighten the bolt into place and put the cover back on.

"Troubleshooting Steps"

and read the instructions carefully before making any adjustments. To adjust the pressure, the switch cover must be removed. Loosen the nut counterclockwise using a 12 mm open-end wrench.

First-time startup procedure for kikawa KQ 400 S water pump Method 1

For normal water pressure cases, such as water flowing from a water tank situated higher than the water pump

- Sluice valves*¹ should be installed at the inlet and outlet pipes for optimal performance of the water pumping and distribution system.

- Connect the water pipes and let water flow into the water pump (do not turn on the pump switch yet).

- You will notice that water does not flow out of the outlet yet.

- Unscrew the air release cap to purge air and help the water flow.

- Once water flows through the pipe, close the air release cap.

- Turn on the switch to start the water pump.

First-time startup procedure for kikawa KQ 400 S water pump Method 2

For low water pressure cases, such as water in a tank situated lower than the water pump

- A foot valve*² should be installed at the bottom end of the suction pipe.

- Connect the water pipe, then remove the control switch (Flow Switch) to fill the chamber with water until it overflows.

- Carefully close the control switch (Flow Switch) cap.

- Unscrew the air release cap to purge air and help the water flow.

- Turn on the water pump switch to run the pump; when water flows out from the water outlet points, turn off the pump switch.

- Close the air release cap.

- Turn on the switch to operate the water pump normally.
